Back To School Supply Drive- Thank You

It has been a week since our Back To School Supply Drive for Fairfield City Schools and it took almost all of this whole week to recover. But with the help of the community we were able to collect enough supplies to help several hundred students start the year off right with the supplies they need for school. I have included some pictures below of what we did that day and I wanted to say a special Thank You to all of those who where involved with the planning, collecting and sorting of the school supplies.

Saturday started off a little stressful, I walked to my car to start loading some of the supplies that we needed and it was RAINING!!! I felt sick to my stomach, I wanted to cry! But I pulled it together and headed to the school. We started setting up boxes that were donated to us by Two Men and A Truck before we headed to the parade. I was quickly impressed with the the 4 guys that were with Two Men and A Truck. They immediately jumped in and started helping us opening boxes and sorting the supplies that were donated from Ohio Casualty and Butler County Coalition Group. We also had a drop off location for the week of the drive at ReRuns For Wee Ones. It is so great working with business' that are so helpful and friendly!!

We collected several supplies from very generous parade watchers as we walked through our Annual Back To School Parade. We then headed back to the school and continued to collect the rest of the day.

We passed out our "Thank You" bags that were filled with great coupons from places ReRuns for Wee Ones, Springstreet Vitamins and special prizes from our sponsors. We had prizes such as $5 Gift Cards to Subway, $25 Gift Cards for Lakeview Landscaping, $25 Kroger Gift Card from MommySnack, $5 Gift Cards from Family Video, and much more. Kroger donated water for our volunteers and McDonald's donated Hi-C drink for our volunteers as well. Fairfield Pizza also donated pizza for our volunteers.

We also had some great help from our friend Katie from Cincinnati Cents who stopped by with her boys. They stayed and sorted supplies with us for several hours!! 

We then got to work, sorting all the supplies that were donated. It was a lot of work but well worth it. Box after box of supplies. I was just amazed at the generosity of the community!!

So after many weeks of planning from myself, Tosha, Becky and our Community Director for Fairfield Schools, Randy Oppenheimer, it was a success!! Next year we hope to collect even more and help more students. We already have a list of ideas for next time. So thank you to all of the people of the community that donated and thank you again to all of the local business' that stepped up and helped us with our drive, we can't thank them enough. Tomorrow's The Big Day!!- Supply Drive

This week has been crazy busy with all of our last minute details for the back to school supply drive. I can not believe that it is here and only 13 hours away!! So I thought that I would share the details one last time and hope that you all can make it!!

What:  Fairfield Back to School Supply Drive, Back to School Parade & Pep Rally

When:  Saturday, August 21st - Tomorrow! Parade starts at 11:30 followed immediately by the Pep Rally and the School Supply Drive.  We will be collecting supplies until 5 pm.

Where:  Parade Route: Holiday Drive to Wittenberg Drive, right on Wittenberg Drive to Nilles Road, left on Nilles Road to Ohio 4 (Dixie Highway), cross Ohio 4 to Stadium Drive. Parade ends in Intermediate School parking lot.

Pep Rally: Fairfield Stadium off of Rt 4

School Supply Drive:  Donations can be made during the parade ... look for the Two Men & a Truck in the parade.  We will also be walking alongside it. Donations also can be made at the Intermediate Building (right behind the stadium) until 5 pm.

Why:  To help the many families and students in need start the school year off right with the many supplies needed.

Are you ready for it ?!?!?

Are you ready for the kiddos to head back to school yet? I feel like they just got out! But as we went shopping at Target on Saturday, I saw it!! The back to school supply section up and a wall full of book bags! My girls were actually excited to see it and wanted to start getting things that day! And then yesterday I see that Walgreen's has .19 pencils and pens in their ad. So before you know it, we will be quickly approaching all the back to school sales, which I love!!

So I will each week make a separate post just for back to school deals! This way you can have 1 list with all the deals on it, instead of reading through each store match-up if you are just looking for back to school sales!!

Back To School Supply Drive-Fairfield City Schools!

Back To School Supply Drive- Fairfield City Schools!!

Tosha at Savings Makes Cents, Becky at Savings Bits and Pieces and myself have teamed up and organized a Back To School Supply Drive for our local school district- Fairfield City Schools. With help from our friend and mentor Becky at Nickels-n-Dimes, we are hoping to collect enough school supplies to help our local students in need. With so many families hit hard by the struggling economy, buying school supplies is usually the last items that a family adds to their budget. It is truly an honor knowing that we can help our students start the year off right by providing them with the supplies they need to get a great education.

Our Back to School Supply Drive will start during our Annual Back to School Parade. The Parade is something that Fairfield City Schools hold every year to get the students excited about coming back to school and to kick off the start of a new school year. This year it will be on Saturday August 21, 2010 starting at 11:30am. The parade travels from Hicks Blvd to Nilles Road and then ends at the Intermediate Building off Route 4, where we will continue to collect supplies until 5pm. We have made a list below of the supplies that are needed for the students throughout the entire district. Any donation big or small is welcome. Every donation makes a difference. We are asking residents, community groups and local businesses to participate in our Back to School Supply Drive by donating any supplies listed below. If you would like to donate and are unable to make it to the Drive, please contact us to make arrangements for us to pick up your donation.
